Terminal 5

Having left Leamington this morning in good time for my 2.30pm flight, I was slightly dismayed to find out on arrival that the flight had been postponed until 4.00pm!

The seating areas were quite busy but there were plenty if shops to explore although mostly rather 'high end'.

There was also plenty of time at the gate to watch the aircraft being prepared for flight.

Creature of the Week

The mini sunflower has been opening one row of tiny petals at a time in the green centre of the flower.

Today Lauren managed to capture a picture of the elusive bee visiting it.

However, the title of creature of the week definitely goes to this little animal that David encountered today on his lunchtime walk.

It appears to be a freshwater crayfish - who evidently didn't like being disturbed and was waving his claws..

New & Unusual Flavours

I have written on the blog about unusual foods and flavours encountered in the US but at the supermarket in Leamington today some new - and quite unusual - flavours were on offer, together with an invitation to vote for your favourite...

I was particularly intrigued by 'Ranch Raccoon' - a vegetarian flavour, you will be pleased to know!

Mini Sunflower!

A sunny morning and a beautiful but small sunflower opened out.  The large sunflowers in Lauren's garden are much taller but only in bud as yet.

It was soon attracting the bees although every time I tried to catch a photo of one on the flower I just missed it!

Back in the US, David's day was very long yesterday due to weather-related flight delays as he returned to Dulles from Minneapolis, Minnesota via Chicago.

He took these shots as his plane came in to land in Chicago.

Monty and Sox

We visited Maggie at home yesterday and Sox seemed happy to have a new lap to try.

Monty is a little large for sitting on laps but found himself a patch of sunshine to rest in.

Flowers in an English garden!

Mum's flower borders are looking very good and are still full of colour...

Garden Flowers

This afternoon we drove to Bath but these pictures are of Lauren's garden, including dahlias and sunflowers grown from seed.

And some very tall cosmos...
