Busy Saturday

Early Saturday morning and there is even more of the white stuff.  Theo watches out the window as Lauren sets off to the hairdressers in Warwick.

Then more den building - and we are getting more ambitious!

This den was (just about) big enough for me too.

More snow play this afternoon..

Replenishing yesterday’s bag of snow..

Building a mini-snowman..

Trying to freeze bubbles - turns out it is more complicated than we thought!!

Having postponed my flight back from Thursday to Saturdayand then Sunday, I am now leaving tomorrow - weather permitting!

More Snow!

Another snowy day and Theo decided to try out his balance bike...

This seemed to work quite well!

Charlie stayed in the warm and watched through the window.

There were some snowballing high jinks and a fun photo before it was too chilly to stay out any longer.

Snowy Day

Theo was keen to get out into the snow this morning, despite the cold wind.

After a brief snowball fight we headed back into the warm!

Later in the day, Theo ventured out again for more play in the snow.  Again it was very cold - a little sunshine would have been nice!

Watching the Snow

It’s fun to watch the snow from the comfort of your bouncy chair!

As more fell, Theo helped his Mum to clear the drive!

This evening my flight back has been cancelled for tomorrow and now re-booked for Saturday morning.

At the Park

Today’s weather  has been alternating between blizzards of huge snowflakes which settled for a while then melted away under sunshine and clear blue skies.

However I haven’t taken any photos!   Today’s subject is a visit to the local park on Sunday.

Theo took his balance bike which he manages very well now - he did the full circuit of the running track around the field!
Sorry about the long shadow of me!

The swings proved irresistible to the older youngsters while baby Charlie slept snuggly alongside in his pram.

Lots of other play equipment to explore too..

And later in the day, after all that fresh air and exercise, a much needed snooze...

Kitchens Galore

One of the changes that we plan to make to our house when we return is to replace the kitchen.  As we have never planned a kitchen from scratch before and as it is even twenty years since we made a few changes and improvements to the existing one, Lauren planned a tour of suppliers so that I could see what is available.

The answer, of course, is a mind-boggling choice in every aspect of the design from worktops and sinks to lighting and gadgets.  So many colours and finishes.  One of the features we hope to incorporate is a large American style fridge-freezer that we have enjoyed using across the pond, so I was glad to see a few of those around.

Theo was very helpful, opening cupboard doors and drawers to reveal a wealth of different interiors and fittings.

Quite a few units seem to have curved ends - more food for thought.  I now have a stack of brochures to work my way through!

Making Dens

I can remember having great fun as a child making impromptu ‘dens’.  Theo was able to get in under his play table and invited me to join him..but I couldn’t quite squeeze in!

So we made one using the back of the sofa and a patchwork quilt that we bought in the US at a charity auction.

This den was big enough to use as a doctors surgery for Theo’s doll - and almost big enough for me to get in.  You can trust my dear son-in-law to spot a photo opportunity, though...

The quilt was also put to good use as a colourful backdrop for Charlie’s 12 week photo!
