Old Haunts

As we drive around the North Cornwall lanes to visit some favourite  places, Mum and I inevitably find ourselves commenting on what has changed over the years and what has stayed the same.

Many of the modest coastal bungalows and houses have sprouted large, glass cocooned balconies and giant windows, all facing out to the views that we all love of the sea.

Of course the coastal scenery itself changes little from year to year  - as here at Trevone on the sandy beach and rocky beach (though the sea and sky are changing minute by minute).

A few other things can safely be relied upon to stay the same..

Cornish 'hedges' for example.  This one at the back of the rocky beach, full of samphire (tested and deemed over-rated but better cooked I think).

Dune snails - they never seem to tire of the taste of Wild Spinach - or do these plants provide the best protection from the sea breeze?

Rock pools change from tide to tide but remain very appealing, even as sunset approaches and the air is rather chilly.  This one at Treyarnon.
