Chatsworth House & Garden

Our first visit to Chatsworth, we visited the house this morning and the garden this afternoon, in the sunshine.

We found the house and some of the contents rather overwhelming in their opulence and level of decoration but there were some beautiful individual items too.

In the garden there are many interesting corners as well as impressive vistas.

Good Friday in the Peak District

I would like to claim that these beautiful hot cross buns are my own creation but these were made by Maggie - and very good they were too!

Today we travelled via Ashbourne, above, to the lodge where we are staying near Longnor in the Peak District.

Despite being 'technically' a camping and caravan site, the lodge has all mod cons..

..and an extra, soon put to good use..

It is very quiet here, the birdsong is the most noticeable sound, and David photographed a Spotted Woodpecker..

..as well as some 'Easter' bunnies..

At sunset we went to photograph the view..

The sunset itself was not very dramatic..

Primrose Bank

We visited the farm this afternoon en route to collect David from the airport.

Maggie took us to see a bank of primroses in full bloom.

At the foot of the bank were large clumps of Lady's Smock.

Rising Moon

There is a full moon tonight and so I thought that I would try and photograph it - not a huge success really!

Misty by the pond

Misty approached the pond with confidence as if contemplating a dip..

But changed her mind!

The Kingcups beside the water were very bright in the sunshine.

Fields of Gold

This morning we drove to Bristol Airport for David's flight to Toulouse.  It was sunny and bright and the fields of rape were vibrantly yellow along each side of the road

Some of the most beautiful fields were less accessible to photograph but I took these two photos on the way back to Bath to capture the colour under a blue sky.
