Whistlestop Tour

After leaving Bath yesterday we visited Andrea and Steve and met beautiful grandson Harvey before heading on to Leamington.

We had a lovely peaceful and cool evening sitting in the garden with Lauren and James, enjoying a glass of wine.

This morning we headed to Shillington where Dad in Law's flowers are looking great, including these very unusual 'black' petunias..

Tux came to see us..

This evening we went out for a meal and then Lara taught me how to make a loom band bracelet..

We made one for Lauren too..

Noticed this rather intriguing use for phone boxes when I walked through yesterday..

We will be back soon..

Green Woodpecker

This morning a young green woodpecker spent a considerable time on the lawn at Stonefield collecting insects.

Although not yet showing his full adult colour, he was a very handsome bird and surprisingly well camouflaged..

Initially his parent bird came to the lawn with him and they went through an unusual ritual of bobbing up and down whilst facing each other.  The parent bird then opened its wings and held them half open and fed the younger bird.

Unfortunately at that stage I was afraid of disturbing them so didn't go and fetch the camera but it was an extraordinary display.

In Bath

In town today for a visit to the dentist and some shopping with Mum.  In Queen Square a boules tournament was underway and just for once the weather was ideal for it.  It looked as if a good time was being had by all.

Very little time to take proper pics but a quick view of Queen Street with Trim Bridge in the distance reminded me what pretty streets there are in Bath.

The Seven Stars, Winsley

A beautiful summer evening and a traditional English pub - a great combination!

Add a catch up with one very special friend (and a hint of a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, bottom right) and it is a truly winning combination...

Up-cycling

(Nothing to do with the Tour de France alpine stage)..

We went shopping today and Lauren and James bought some old and damaged frames to up-cycle and worked on them in the sunshine this afternoon.

When the first ones were completed and on the shelf they looked very good.  Now L and J just need to find some photos for the new frames.
