Smithsonian Air & Space Museum

Today we took James, Lauren & Theo to the Air & Space Museum in Chantilly

Theo soon entered into the spirit of things, in his astronaut outfit

Overall he enjoyed looking around the exhibits

Once home it was a quick outfit change for David & I as we had a birthday party to attend.

Not just a laundry basket!

This morning Theo and I had some play time while his Mum and Dad went out for a walk and a relaxing massage.

As I was also putting some washing through, the laundry basket was discovered..

..and its play potential was fully explored!

Quite a versatile item really!

Picnic at Great Falls

Today was sunny and, by this afternoon, very warm.  We packed up a picnic and headed for Great Falls.  There was quite a queue to get into the park but once there, although it was busy, there is plenty of space for everyone and also quiet corners with tiny wild flowers growing..

We walked to several of the overlooks..

The water was looking lovely - and not as wild as on our last visit.

There were a few kayakers on the river and a rubber dinghy - rather them than me!  At one point we also saw what appeared to be a rescue helicopter flying along the river - we hoped that it was just a drill.

We found a suitable picnic table and Theo gave it the once over..

We looked for shade as it was so bright, but with no leaves, there wasn't much shade to be had.

Fine Dining

Over the past few days Theo has been firmly embracing the American Sports Bar dining tradition, last night at the Glory Days Grill in Reston...

... and this lunch time at the Calypso Sports Bar at the beautiful Lake Anne, where it was warm enough to have a table outside on the Plaza...

..and where the staff kindly gave Theo a helium balloon to tie to the high chair.

However - this didn't last too long 

Luckily this didn't end in tears so we were able to take a short walk around the lake in the sunshine after lunch.

Frying Pan Farm Park

David returned to work today and was flying off to Tennessee this afternoon, whilst we headed off to Frying Pan Farm Park - just a few miles up the road.

We introduced Theo to a variety of farm yard animals (many of which he'd encountered before)

Then we went on a Wagon Ride

And Theo had a go at driving his own (smaller) tractor

There was just enough time for a cookie & ice cream sandwich snack (shared with Mummy)

Before we headed home via the park for a spot of swinging and sliding 

And a quick walk in the woods

A lovely afternoon in the sunshine and due to be warmer again tomorrow.

🎼 We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo ....

Today's outing was to the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC. The weather has been very bright but cool. 

Theo enjoyed being pushed around in his pram ....

.... but it rather restricted his view of the animals..

So out he came ....

and into his carrier (and onto the Carousel)

All in all, the trip was a great success - I think Theo agreed.

Twitcher in training?

David and I went out to view two more possible houses for rent today and on our return, Theo was enjoying an early light lunch and watching the birds. 

He seems to enjoy watching the birds more than the squirrels and chipmunks - the latter especially can be a bit fast moving for him to spot!

We have also had visits from deer and a fox in the garden today but unfortunately that was when Theo was having a nap!

The promised snow did not come to fruition today, it was just chilly.  This afternoon we went to Leesburg Outlet Village for a potter and a little gentle shopping.
