Garden Tour

I did a quick tour of Mum's garden today to see what is in flower.  But first, these are the flowers that Mum put in the bedroom for me.  Beautiful 'love in the mist'... and unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the other flower!  Here they are growing together in the garden.

Tomatoes are coming on in the greenhouse..

Large allium flowers are going to seed, but beautifully..

The photos do not do it justice but this rose - Handel - is lovely.

As are these tall iris..

..and the Buff Beauty rose climbing over the arch.

The white peony has huge flowers..

And all the flowerbeds are looking good..

By the Lake

Called in to see friends at the University in Bath today and great to catch up with everyone's news.

Walked from the car park to campus along the side of the lake which is an oasis of calm but with signs of building in the background.  You can just see the cranes in the above pictures.

There are beautiful patches of white and pink water lilies at each end of the lake, but impossible to get near enough to photograph them properly, ducked under some branches into a flowerbed to get these shots!

Ice Cream and a Walk in the Park

Lickety Lick is a 1950's inspired ice cream parlour in Leamington and beautifully decorated.

Not that Theo was taking much notice of the decor or the ice cream once he realised there was nothing on the menu for him..

We enjoyed it anyway...

It was a beautiful day so the next stop was the Jephson Gardens which have just been planted for the summer..

A few photos and then we walked on to the Sensory Garden which is now completed.

Pasty Pie

When I visited Mum and Dad a couple of weeks ago, Mum made two pasty pies and I brought one back here on the Sunday morning when I hurried back for Theo's arrival.

Mum's pie is a family favorite to say the least and on that occasion Lauren enjoyed hers cold - picnic style - sitting cross-legged on her hospital bed (and with a generous dollop of tomato ketchup).

I watched over Mum as she made the pie and yesterday decided to have a go myself.  We ate the result for dinner..

It was good, but not quite up to scratch..will have to consult further...

Play Time!

A warm day today and in his t-shirt and shorts Theo enjoyed some time playing on his octopus play mat/gym.

Trip to Warwick

Today we visited Warwick for an important appointment - to register Theo's birth and obtain his birth certificate.

Theo was more concerned about the historic pavements which were rather bumpy.

There was an opportunity for a refreshment stop too - a first visit to a coffee shop!

This evening we all watched the Lion King on DVD - including Ginty who seemed to find it quite fascinating (more so than Theo who slept right through).

Mystery Plant

Yesterday David and I went to visit his Mum and Dad at home.  A lovely day.

We had a walk around the garden and admired the roses, lupins, delphiniums and some hardy orchids in pots.

I did not take any photos, except for this plant, which is a bit of a mystery.

It is an unusual color and shape and stands about three foot high in its pot.

Pretty little flowers and very popular with the bees.
