Time to go..

This morning dawned, quite early, and Theo and I had a morning chat on the bed before breakfast.

It was sunny and warm and so a few photos outside as well as inside before it was time for the taxi to Heathrow.

I shall miss you all!  See you soon!

Supermarket Shopping

Another first today as Theo tried out for size the baby seat in a Sainsbury's trolley.

With a bit of padding he seemed pretty cosy and was soon fast asleep while we cruised the aisles.

Had he not been asleep, he would have seen us choosing this neat little Disney 'Tigger' outfit for him!

This evening it was time to think about packing my case for tomorrow..  Will he and his 'Boppy' pillow fit?  No, I don't think so, nor would his Mum let me take him!

Emma is keeping an eye on him too, he seems to be deep in thought!

Ready for the beach?

It was warm today and Theo was resplendent in his stripy beach outfit!

He was introduced (visually only!) to an ice-cream cone, but he wasn't that impressed.

This afternoon he tried out his bouncy chair, watched and recorded by his Mum..

Garden below the walls

Today I visited Warwick with a friend - her first visit to the city so we began with the view of Warwick Castle from the bridge over the river.

Mill Garden is a cottage garden which is open to the public for charity, it is beautiful in every season and full of colour at this time of year.

The garden is on a small strip of land between the outer walls of the castle and the river.

There are many familiar plants ..

And a mystery one .. any thoughts?

The Iris and the Bee

I photographed this beautiful iris flower in Mum's garden at the weekend.

While I was taking the photo, along came a bee.

He then proceeded to do his work in each section of the flower.

He squeezed in between the petals..

..and was almost hidden inside.

Then back out again, in reverse...

..and off to find another one.

Big Day, Little Moments

Today was a very big day for James as he attended the viva voce examination - all three hours of it - to defend his thesis and hence complete his PhD.

All went well and he will now be 'Dr' - many congratulations, James!  We raised a glass this evening to celebrate and decorated the pie that we had for dinner appropriately..

For Lauren and I the day started with some quiet little moments with Theo who is beginning to study faces and expressions very intently, especially the very important face of his lovely Mum ..

Even quiet moments can be tiring though when you are only three weeks old!

Father's Day

It was good to be in Bath and have the opportunity to celebrate Father's Day this weekend - not only with Dad, but also with Maggie, Andrew and Jan.

David's Dad is in Portugal on holiday and so was celebrating there.

David was of course already back in the US, but had taken with him a card and gifts from Lauren.

This afternoon I was in Leamington where James was celebrating his first Fathers Day - as noted on his t-shirt...

Tomorrow is another important day for James as he has his viva voce examination for his PhD, which he has been reading through.

Theo didn't appear to find it all that exciting but hopefully the examiners will be more impressed..
