Meeting Charlie

Less than twelve hours after he was born I was able to visit Charlie this morning - and of course his exhausted Mum.

Even allowing for a little grandparently bias he is quite gorgeous and when awake, very alert and knowing..

It was great to have a cuddle..

And to observe Lauren being the lovely and loving Mum that she is..

This afternoon it was a Theo’s turn to be introduced to Charlie by his Mum and Dad..

He looks as if he is taking his new position as big brother very seriously!

Lauren and James said that he was very gentle.  Soon we shall have to get all four of them into one photo.

Theo was pleased with the gifts that Charlie brought him.

Charlie in turn will love his gift from Theo!

(Very)Big Day

This morning it was time for Theo to say goodbye to his Mum as she and James headed off for the arrival of the new baby.

Grandma was left in charge of Theo (or should that be the other way around?)

A visit from Nanny Charmian was very welcome..

Our attempts to take a ‘Granny selfie’ not so successful!

We had fun at home and out and about in Sainsburys..

At 22.32 this evening, baby made his entrance!  Congratulations to his exhausted parents.

Welcome Charlie to your new little world where you will be surrounded by love and laughter.  So looking forward to meeting you xxx

Family Sunday

This morning I visited Mum at the hospital and it was good to see her sitting out and looking more herself.  I then went on to a lovely family lunch to celebrate Maggie’s birthday.

Unfortunately I seem to have photographed the lunch but not the family!

This afternoon as the light was fading I left Bath to come to Leamington - the traffic was very heavy and down to a slow crawl over Tog Hill and so I had time to wind down the window and photograph the wonderful tree skeletons and sheep grazing beneath.

Shakespeare at Staunton

David enjoyed the performance of Loves Labours Lost at the Shakespeare Theatre in Staunton.

 

It was obviously not permitted to take photos during the performance.

It must have looked very authentic and impressive when filled with actors and audience.  Hopefully we will be able to visit together in the Spring.

Staunton

Although we were not able to go away together over Thanksgiving as planned, David decided to drive to the town of Staunton anyway and to use one of the tickets for the Shakespeare Theatre there.

The theatre is next to the Stonewall Jackson hotel - a huge building which shows the importance of Staunton in the past as a railway and industrial town.  It is situated in the lower part of the Shenandoah Valley, close to the Blue Ridge mountains and en route to Roanoke.

David had a bright sunny day for his visit and took lots of photos to share.

This last building is a Glass works with many beautiful creations.  Apparently lots of lovely small shops in the town - not typical Black Friday shopping!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is not ‘our’ holiday but nonetheless we have much to be thankful for - on both sides of the Atlantic!

A very Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating the holiday and an opportunity for us all to be thankful for all that we have!

Dusk at Dulles

The eve of the Thanksgiving holiday is traditionally a very busy time to travel as millions of Americans move around the country to spend this important holiday with family and friends.

Dulles Airport was therefore very busy as we approached at the end of the afternoon.
