Seward to Talkeetna

This morning dawned bright and sunny and so, before leaving on the bus for our next stop, we crossed the road from the Lodge where we were staying to look at the views of the mountains around the Resurrection River.

The river is fast flowing and opaque with glacial silt.

Back at the Lodge, a quick photo of where we have been staying for two nights..

You can tell that you are in fishing country here..

We caught our bus and headed up the now quite familiar road from Seward to Anchorage.  One difference today was that the sun was out.

There were some pretty views along the way..

We stopped in Anchorage to visit the museum and have lunch.

Then we were on the road for another couple of hours to reach Talkeetna, a tiny and rather quirky town.  We are staying in a Lodge just outside..

This outdoor deck is very well placed for panoramic views of Mount McKinlay (Denali) and the entire Alaskan Range.

However the cloud cover is such, especially around Denali (which is 20,000 feet high and has its own weather system), that the mountain is only visible one day in three.  Fingers crossed we will see it!!

This evening we visited Talkeetna and it was as quirky as we had been told.

We entered into the spirit of it..

There were decorated Moose around the town..

Maybe one of them had strayed near to the Lodge..

It is certainly different here!
