Skyline Drive

This morning we left Waynesboro, where we had stayed overnight and joined Skyline Drive - the road that runs along the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains - from the South entrance.

The drive is 105 miles long and the speed limit is 35 mph.  Hence it is a leisurely drive with frequent 'overlook' stops to admire the scenery below.

Our last visit was in the Autumn and it was interesting to see everything looking so green and with wildflowers out along the edges of the road.

We did a fairly short and very steep walk down to a waterfall and back before arriving at Skyland Resort to spend the night.  The resort is in a fantastic position overlooking the Shenandoah Valley but the rooms and communal buildings are a little quaint..
