Burke Lake

We are trying to visit somewhere new each weekend and so today we decided to walk the trail at Burke Lake Park, about half an hour from Reston.

We set off early as it was due to be very warm and sunny.

We were glad of the shade around most of the 4.5 mile trail as the temperature rose to 30C.

There were a few people out on the water or fishing at the edge.

We saw very few birds but several Swallowtail butterflies as well as many dragonflies..

  1. Looks like a beautiful walk. Were you tempted to have a cool off dip?

  2. Swimming was forbidden but also not very tempting - lots of muddy sediment, due to the amount of leaves that must fall in each year I guess. Also, walking on with a Saltash Rig??

  3. I used to live in Burke not far from this lake, It's really a very nice park in all seasons. Wonderful place for walking babies. Beautiful pictures Juliet, as always!
