When I looked out of the window this morning, this little chap was out eating on the grass. He froze when he saw me as I took his photo from the deck.
After a while he decided it was safe to move and set off into the undergrowth.
He then found something of interest and stopped for a nibble. In this last photo he looks small but Woodchucks/Groundhogs are at least the size of a fairly chunky rabbit.
I imagine that this one has a burrow along the banks of the creek. It is not unusual for them to burrow under houses, porches or outhouses and they create sophisticated networks of tunnels which can undermine quite large areas.
