Rogue Sunflower

A few weeks ago when I got back from the UK, an uninvited guest was growing in one of the lavender pots on the decking.

Since then it has grown much taller, although it remains very spindly.

Although the plant is tall, the flower, when it started to come out over the weekend, is not very big.

Last night it was partly out..

This morning it was fully out and turned to the sun.

Such an extraordinary pattern to the middle of the flower.

I wonder whether the birds will show any interest in the fresh seed?
